Dogwood Crossing @ Miles is the home of our district’s Art Gallery, Library, IT Centre and Social History.  Dogwood Crossing @ Miles has become the cultural heart of our district and fulfils its vision of ‘a vibrant centre that connects people and inspires creativity, thus enriching our community and the lives of those who visit us.’ The award winning building has become in itself a cultural icon for the region with seven metre tall stylized bottle trees forming a colonnade down the centre of the facility. Managed and programmed as a convergent facility Dogwood Crossing @ Miles prides itself on its emphasis on interpretation, education & public programs and community engagement in the arts and culture.

2010 World's Best Tea Cosy

A selection of tea cosies from the World Tea Cosie Making Competition 2005 & 2006 have arrived back in Miles after their tour of regional  quuensland per courtesy of Queensland Arts Council's Ontoue One Exhibition'.

Big Eye

An exhibition of the moving image, including stop-motion, 3D and other animation techniques, Big Eye showcases Aboriginal animations from Australia and Canada in a unique cross-tribal exchange of ideas and world views. 

 

Across Country - Ken Hinds Cultural Collection

 Across Country is a selection of Aboriginal art spanning watercolours from the 1940s Namatjira watercolour school, significant artists of the Papunya and Kintore schools of painting, Arnhem Land barks, works from the Kimberley and Torres Strait Islands and the more colourful contemporary works.

 

Local Artists' Exhibition - Crossroads : to the future

This exhibition will present an opportunity to acknowledge that our community may be at a crossroads, to make comment and look to the future.

 

Worlds Best Tea Cosy

The Tea Cosy capital of the world, Miles, (in Queensland, Australia) is again seeking the world’s best tea cosies, following the great success of the 2005 & 2006 World Tea Cosy Making Competition, which attracted entries from Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, U.S.A., South Africa, New Zealand, and France.

Australia's Richest Radio Play Writing Competition 2010

The launch of Australia’s Richest Radio Play Writing Competition in Miles Queensland, September 2009, challenges writers around Australia to write a 30-minute radio play about contemporary issues that effect and impact upon our lives. Prize money of $6000 will be awarded to the top 4 scripts.
