ACLAND

Acland  is a small Darling Downs community with a big history. When the town was bought up for an open-cut coal mine, there was little left besides fragments and memories. Nicki Laws tells many of the stories from Acland using fabric and stitch. A sense of history, friendship and community is evoked via the use of donated photographs, letters, vintage textiles, found objects and natural dyes from the Acland district.

This body of works was supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (An Arts Qld and Toowoomba Regional Council partnership to support local arts and culture).
