Call for Australia Day Nominations

Nominations are now open to recognise the outstanding achievements of the region’s ‘local heroes’. The community is invited to put forward nominations for Western Downs Regional Council’s 2010 Australia Day Awards.

Western Downs Regional Council is calling on residents to recognise individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the community and for exceptional achievement in sport, the arts and culture, as well as community events and projects on both a local and regional level.

Western Downs Regional Council Australia Day Award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year Award
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award
  • Junior Sports Achievement Award
  • Senior Sports Achievement Award
  • Sports Administrator/Coach/Official Award
  • Community Project/ Event of the Year Award
  • Junior Cultural Award
  • Senior Cultural Award

All award categories will be presented at both a local and regional level. All category winners of local awards will automatically be considered for a regional award in their category.

There will be a number of Australia Day events held throughout the region. Recipients of local awards will have the opportunity to nominate their preferred event to attend to receive awards.
