Council Social Club giving to local charities this Christmas

Western Downs Regional Council Social Club is helping to brighten the festive season among the less fortunate through its Dalby Christmas Giving Tree appeal.

After the great success achieved last year Council again asks Dalby and district residents to get into the festive spirit and generously donate to those disadvantaged in our community.

Dalby Social Club President Cameron Davidson said the aim of the initiative is to provide Dalby Community Groups with a boost of much needed gifts and supplies which will help those most in need this Christmas.

"It's been a tough year for a lot of families and we'd like to be able to help out in any way we can. Last year was our first year and even though we only had a couple of weeks to get this initiative organised we had a huge response and the charities were all very appreciative," he said.

Mr Davidson said members are encouraged to contribute gifts and food items, and the group also extends an invitation to residents and local businesses to help out.

"The five community groups we were able to help out last year were extremely grateful and we would love to continue assisting them once again.

"Non-perishable food items, gifts, toys, vouchers - anything at all people care to donate would be greatly appreciated.

"Those businesses that would like to donate but are unable to drop off their items should contact Council and we will arrange for the collection and delivery of the items to one of our collection locations.

"We will be extremely grateful for any donations that we receive and are only too happy to be able to collect at our local offices and hand the goods over to local community groups to distribute accordingly to those most in need."

Gifts can be delivered to the Council Corporate Office at 107 Drayton Street, Engineering Customer Service Centre at 26 Wood Street and Dalby Library in Stuart Street.

Donations are welcome up to Wednesday December 16 when the goods will be collected for distribution. The Social Club asks that gifts are delivered unwrapped.
