National Water Week 2009 Get Creative during National Water Week and WIN a rainwater tank for your schoolwith heaps of great individual prizes up for grabs
National Water Week 2009 is a great opportunity for the community to take actions that help protect and conserve our most precious resource - water. National Water Week will see hundreds of events take place on a local, regional and national scale- and this year aims to be bigger than ever! Being held from 18-24 October, National Water Week 2009 will unite community, school, environmental and industry groups holding events that encourage community participation in water protection and conservation. This year's National Water Week theme - Securing Our Water Future - draws community attention to the importance of protecting and restoring our water sources. In most parts of Australia, water supplies are limited, so we are all responsible for our water future.
Western Downs Regional Council is planning a number of activities to engage local primary schools across the region during National Water Week 2009. This years activities incorporate three competitions, a Waterwise poster competition targeted at grades 3, 4 and 5. The development of a Waterwise Character or local icon targeted at grades 5, 6 and 7 and a colouring-in competition for prep to grade 3 children. All entries must be submitted on an official WDRC entry form.
Check out Council's competition brochure for further details.
If your school would like to participate please contact Council's Utilities Marketing Officer, Ms Toni Hohn, on (07) 4669 9044. Check out your local library for more details on National Water Week. |
