Letterbox signs are available from Council for hous eholds with an alternative water supply such as a bore, rainwater storage, grey water reuse or dam storage.
Residents who have an alternative water supply source are not subject to water restrictions when accessing their alternate supply.
Council strongly encourages applicable households to display a certified sign to indicate the use of an alternative water supply.
The signs are designed to create awareness within the community and avoid confusion about unauthorised water use by clearly identifying each household with an exemption to use an alternative water supply.
Council's local laws officers are able to quickly recognise properties with an alternative water supply during water restriction patrols and when investigating reported breaches.
The signs have been designed to be visually appealing, without impacting on the aesthetics of the property by attaching to the letterbox.
Alternative water use signs will be issued free of charge to approved residences.
